Fruits and vegetables mentioned in Islam

We live in a health-conscious society that constantly encourages us to eat better in order to improve our wellbeing. From nutrition advice to fitness trends, there is a growing awareness that what we consume directly impacts our physical and mental health. Yet, beyond modern science, there is a deeper spiritual perspective on food that invites reflection.

The wholesome and nutritious foods we are encouraged to eat are, in reality, creations of Allah. The Qur’an reminds us: “And He it is who produces gardens… eat of their fruit when they ripen” (6:141). Each fruit, vegetable, and grain is part of a complex creation—growing through the interaction of sunlight, water, and air—perfectly designed and sustained by Him. This intricate balance reflects not only divine power but also divine care.

Food is therefore a blessing and a mercy. Allah is Al-Razzaq, the Sustainer, who provides for all creation without measure. Every meal we consume is a reminder of His generosity and provision.

Moreover, nourishment is not an end in itself but a means to worship. The Prophet ﷺ taught that actions are judged by intentions, meaning even eating can become an act of worship when done to gain strength for عبادہ. With sincere intention, everyday nourishment becomes a source of reward and a path to drawing closer to Allah
